A company’s domain name plays an important role in developing and establishing the company’s brand on the internet. For a company or a business website, a domain name is more important that it might be for a personal website.</p>
<p>More than 20 million domain names already registered; hence finding an ideal domain name for a company’s website can be quite a challenge. Most common generic names and phrases are already registered and cannot be selected.</p>
<p>Until recently choosing a company’s domain name based purely on keywords was the preferred choice for most companies. However now a days many marketing experts argue that this may not necessarily be the best way to establish a company’s brand. Some marketing experts believe that a company’s domain name should reflect the company’s name and not only the targeted keywords.<br />
As websites are important o the company’s success choosing the domain name should not be taken lightly and all factors should be carefully considered.</p>

Short domain names are not only easier to remember but also to type. The shorter the name the easier it is for the customer to get to your website. A shorter name is also easier to refer to others either by you or by the customer.</p>
<h3>Tip 2: Using keywords in a company’s domain name?</h3>
<p>Using keywords in the domain name males it easier for search engines to index and rank its website. As search engine marketing is one of the key objectives of a company’s website, it might help if the domain name can help the company achieve a better rank for its website on search engines like Google.<br />
However there are two schools of thought on this issue. As mentioned earlier in this article some marketing experts believe that generic keyword rich domain names may have limitations in developing the company’s brand.  For some companies it may make more sense to create an online brand around its company name or another catch phrase rather than the keywords it targets.<br />
If it is necessary for the company’s branding; you should feel free to use a domain name that is not based on keywords.</p>
<p>Keywords in domain names may help its ranking on search engines but it is not the only factor that influences its rank on search results. Other search engine optimisation techniques can be used effectively to work around this. Companies that do not have keywords as part of their domain name still continue to perform well on search engines.  Large established brands are perfect example of this.</p>
<h3>Tip 3: Make it easy to remember</h3>
<p>Domain names that are either generic or creative are easy to remember. Whether you decide to select a domain name based on generic keywords your site targets, your company’s name or another relevant phrase; it is important to ensure that the domain name is easy to remember. This will help customers remember the name with ease.</p>
<p>A domain name that is easy to remember will be easier to establish as a brand than a domain name that is difficult and complicated. A domain name that is easy to remember will also reduce the chances of customers making a mistake in typing it on the browser or search engines.</p>

<p>Search engine marketing is a complex and evolving field. The value and importance of search engine marketing techniques and their effect on the rank of a website changes from time to time. It is common for a search engine optimisation technique to decrease or increase in importance to a great extent. Keyword density is a perfect example of a technique that was once considered one of the effective in determining a website’s rank on search engines which now SEO experts consider overrated. Many search engine experts today argue that keyword density has in fact little or no relevance in determining the rank of a website on search engines.</p>
<p>Whilst I agree that keyword density is not as important as it used to be; it certainly has some relevance. It can safe to state that a website with no occurrence of a keyword will find it difficult or even impossible to rank at the top of the search engine for that keyword.</p>
<p>Nevertheless it is common knowledge in SEO circles that keyword density has reduced in importance. The keyword density in off page elements such as anchor text of back-links certainly has more value than on page keyword density. Nevertheless our experience suggests not overlooking on-page keyword density completely. We would like share one of our recent experiences with keyword density for a reasonably competitive keyword phrase on our web design company’s website.</p>
<p>We were surprised somewhat by the effect of keyword density on the rank of our company’s website on Google. Contrary to the new belief in search engine marketing circles we found that increasing the keyword density of a keyword on a webpage (our homepage in this instance) had a more positive effect on its rank on search engines for the keyword phrase than we initially expected.  What had an even bigger impact on the website’s rank was increasing the overall density of the keyword across the entire website.  This was achieved by regularly publishing keyword rich blog posts and articles on relevant sections of our company’s website.</p>
<p>Our conclusion hence is that if you are serious about ranking high on major search engines like Google for reasonably competitive keywords then a balance needs to be achieved between the different optimisation techniques. The same applies to SEO as a whole and to its independent elements including keyword density. With regards to keyword density, a combination of techniques needs to be adopted. On page keyword density may not be the most important. Off page keyword density in anchor text of back-links are more significant and should be given more emphasis. However we should not completely discount the effect of keyword density of the most desired keywords on a particular page and also across the site on other pages and links within the website.</p>

<br/><p>A company should redesign their website for many reasons.  For a company the decision to redesign a website may be more compelling than for a personal website or community website.   A small company may have budgetary constraints that prevent a redesign of their website. However the increasing role played by online marketing on the success of a business will in most cases justify expenditure.</p>
<p>Some of the reasons a company should redesign their website are quite obvious when you visit the company’s website. Whist some of the reasons may not be as evident.  A company that sells services to other businesses will have a different design and lay-out to a company that directly targets end consumers. As such different companies are guided by different factors.</p>
<p>Some of the reasons why a company should redesign their website are discussed below:</p>

<p>A company’s brand is affected by the design of their website. Like with any other things, a website’s design can become outdated with time.  The design trends 5 years ago were different to the design trends now. A company with an outdated website will present the wrong image to its prospective e customers who visit the website. For a small company, the internet and search engine marketing presents an ideal opportunity to compete effectively with larger established companies across the world.  A company needs to look beyond a professional web design in order to be successful.</p>
<p>The role of internet has evolved significantly in recent years. Across the world the internet plays an increasingly important role in our day to day lives. For businesses, the internet and a powerful web presence has never been more important to the success of the company.</p>
<p>Companies today are constantly looking for new ways to improve their online profile and increase their company’s brand awareness on the web.  The information explosion on the internet has lead to thousands of new websites being launched every month.  Ranking high on search engines has never been more important to a company’s success, no matter how small or large the company’s operations.  At the same time ranking high on search engines has never been more competitive. It is more difficult for a company today to achieve a first page rank on major search engines especially Google.  Even if a company has achieved a high rank on search engines, maintaining its position has never been more difficult.</p>
<p>There are more than 100 million websites on the internet and the internet continues to grow exponentially.  No matter how many websites there are, only 10 websites can appear on the first page of a search result on major search engines like Google.  Quite understandably competition for a first page rank is tough. However with the right approach and an effective search engine marketing strategy it is possible to build your brand online and achieve a high rank on major search engines including Google.</p>
<p>Pay per click campaigns such as Google Adwords offer a quick method to achieve a first page rank for your company’s website in a matter of hours if not minutes. However this can prove expensive especially for a small company or an entrepreneur with a limited marketing budget. Pay per click advertising is flexible as it allows a company to control its monthly spend as well as maximum per click charge. However selecting a low per click charge results in a poor rank for your website. Similarly selecting a lower monthly budget will lead to the ads running only for a few days of each month.</p>
<p>In spite of its shortcomings, pay per click advertising on search engines presents a viable opportunity for small companies as well established businesses in the short term. However in the long run, a company must focus on organic search engine marketing in order to promote the company’s brand and drive targeted visitors to the company website.  Organic search engine marketing refers to main results in the middle of a search results page. Organic ranking cannot be purchased and depends on a gradual process of a websites overall popularity on the web over a period of time. Organic ranking takes time to achieve however it is an investment; the benefits for which are priceless.</p>
<p>Remaining at the top of search engines has become a key element in a company’s marketing strategy. Whether it is a small company or an established business; search engine ranking and online branding is at the heart of any successful marketing strategy.</p>
